Fairy tales involving snow maidens are known from different parts of the world. The best known are one from Russia and the one recounted by the Grimm brothers. The stories involve a snow person coming to life, being loved, but the warmth of the love destroys the snow maiden, who melts. Each man kills the thing he loves.
