Jocelyn Chewett (1906-1976) was a fellow student at the Slade School of Art.  She exhibited designs for tapestry and a theatre foyer at the Goupil Gallery exhibition of 1930 at which Colquhoun and other Slade students also showed work. According to her husband (Gilbert, 1983) Chewett shared accommodation with Colquhoun during part of her time at the Slade.

In the early 1930s she was a pupil of the sculptor, Zadkine.  She married Stephen Gilbert in 1936 and they moved to Paris in 1947.  Whilst her husband worked largely in metal, she carved small abstract sculptures in stone and wood.
